Such a wonderful sound. Guitar Club kids were professional. Thank goodness I have such a great team of leaders! Thank you all.

A guitar is missing (but not for real) and IRC students are sleuthing – in style and with determination. Such a fun end of year Drama/Music unit! I had many come in full costumes (one with dyed hair) and one Gr. 4 student packed her own detective kit: magnifying glass, note pad, pencil, flashlight, and homemade sleeping potion….! Such creative, gung-ho, kids!
TDSB’s Music By the Lake is for Gr. 6-8 students and…for me! I loved teaching strings and spending a week by the water. Send your kids next year! Bands, Strings, Choral, Guitar, and Steel Pan. Amazing learning.

June 24th is the next performance at IRC. Come and join us outside at 9am for a sing-a-long assembly. All of the students are learning Walk off the Earth’s “Gang of Rhythm” and a celtic classic, “Old Joe Clark.” Guitar Club, with fiddlers, will be the back up band. Come and join in! Lyrics below…
IRC’s Gr. 6 Band and Gr. 5 Strings will be performing at our May 27th, 2:30 assembly. We’ll also be watching an IRC music video made by Ethiopia, Maya, Julie Anne, and Ms. Fraser. It was first shown at TDSB’s All City Concert at Massey Hall!

Grades 3 to 6 were given a list of the music words from our Music Word Wall. The winner will have the most words defined correctly….stay tuned. (They were so into this)!

We’re studying dance music across the eras. Mozart’s German Dance played on Boomwhackers – think it’s a premiere?

My Grade 2 class begged to make their own bands. I’ve made quiet suggestions as THEY chose groups, chose instruments, switched instruments, came up with a rhythmic groove, chose a band name, switched instruments again, decided on solos, and then chose a beginning and end to their piece. Serious jamming at age 7/8!

The IRC Choir, Guitar Club, and Gr. 5/6 French classes performed beautifully with the O’Shraves band…and it was fun!

An enjoyable field trip to Bloor Cl. to hear the music we wrote on garageband be performed by ensemble, Continuum. Our video rocked too.
