Grades 3-6 compete for the most defined terms. Winner gets ice cream. Miya won!!

Ms. Smith’s Grade 4s made us so proud last Thursday night at TDSB’s 131st Spring Concert. They got me onto Massey Hall Stage – every musician’s dream! Thank you to Ms. Greenwood, Kaleb, and Mr. Hanley for all of their help. Incredible.

IRC is lucky enough to be benefitting  from a TDSB music unit on Indian drumming. It comes with the instruments and a specialist, Ed Hanley, to teach us all! The Gr. 4s will be using these drums to perform at Massey Hall on May 4th. 

I have two student-made, student-led bands that beg for practise time when I don’t have recess duty. Listening to them talk to each other as musicians is very exciting. Both bands are planning to perform at the IRC talent show. Stay tuned…

These children are brilliant. Give them a few guidelines and they create with confidence and passion.

On Dec. 6th at 6pm please come and enjoy IRC’s Winter Concert! All of my Gr. 2-6 students will be performing plus Guitar Club and Junior Choir. The song were all chosen from students’ assignments and celebrate our diverse community. Should be an awesome show!! Students need to be at school by 5:40 and dressed in something fancy. See you then?

Howard students (I’m at two schools now-IRC in the mornings and Howard in the afternoons. On my bike in between) are taking full advantage of the school’s iPads. We’re talking about form and instrument roles while composing with GarageBand. They love it.
